BUT – Another 3 letter word to Become Aware Of

Another 3 letter word to become aware of – BUT

BUT

What does BUT really mean?

It’s a quick video today. I have previously talked about the use of the words TRY and HOPE – both of which imply to your unconscious mind that whatever you are talking about is only half-hearted. Well, today’s word is BUT.

I want to raise your awareness of the use of the word BUT. Now, when you use this word, it almost negates the meaning of what you have said in the part of the sentence directly before the word. For instance:

  • I’m really looking forward to the party but I’m wondering if I’ll fit in.
  • She was excited about going to the networking event but was worried about her pitch.

It’s a word you need to notice yourself using and notice other people using. You could ask yourself about the deeper meaning of the part of the sentence before the BUT and realise that there may be a meaning that’s not apparent in the sentence.

Am I really looking forward to the party? Was she excited about going to the networking event?
