Does Life Get in Your Way?

Does Life Get in  Your Way

Life

Is Life in Your Way

I’ve been talking with quite a lot of people recently about their journey to success and getting unstuck. And generally, they have been really useful conversations. Yesterday, I rung someone who wanted to speak to me and they didn’t answer, and I thought it strange as they’d been through a process to book an appointment with me – (by the way, you can do this as well by clicking here). And you know how you mind read in these situations:-

  • Maybe they forgot it was dinner time
  • Maybe the kids played up
  • Maybe they had some doubts whether it was worth speaking to me – perhaps they were really stuck and got scared
  • Or may be life just got in the way

I will probably never know  but it made me think about how many opportunities we may miss because of “life” and it inspired this blog.

Watch the video below and then think about the examples below and the tool I give you to help you make the decisions

Some examples –

  • Maybe you’ve been invited to a networking event or other event and you were just too tired and then wondered whether you should have gone
  • Maybe someone said to you “why are you going to do that?”
  • Maybe you got caught up in other people’s should’s and ought to’s and just gave up?
  • Maybe you had to do the shopping or ironing?

Did you end up regretting your decision? Did you miss an opportunity?

Or maybe these thoughts came to your mind:-

  • It doesn’t feel right
  • Its not going to get me my goals
  • It’s not relevant to me

I suggest you find a piece of paper and draw a line down it vertically half way across. On one side you write “What if I did?” and on the other side, write “What if I didn’t?” And fill the answers in. You’ll soon be thinking this for any decision that you take. And you won’t miss important opportunities by letting life get in  your way.

Until next week, look out for those opportunities in life and If you’d like to talk to me about getting out of your own way book a free appointment.

The Perils of Saying Yes All the Time

If you mean to Say NO and Say YES, then there may be consequences for you!

Say NO

Say No when you mean it

One of the main reasons that people come and see me for coaching is when they find they say yes when they want to say no. Its really interesting to think about why we do this (and I think most of us do to some extent)

  • Maybe we are people pleasers?
  • Maybe we want to be liked?
  • Could we be afraid  of the consequences?
  • Most likely, we are mind-reading what people would say or do?
  • Maybe things have happened to us in the past which makes us worry about the consequences of saying no?

And what are the consequence when we don’t say no?

  • Generally we feel uncomfortable
  • Anxiety kicks in when we are not being true to what we want
  • Then we can lose confidence, end up in a vicious circle and then start saying yes even more!

Watch the short video below and then read the tips underneath that will make you think and perhaps do things differently.

If any of this sounds familiar to you and you want to start to say no, here are some things that you could do:

  • Stop and think about when you do it
  • Say to the person, let me have a think about it
  • Take a step back and think about why you are doing it and whether it’s in line with your values and being yourself
  • Ask yourself what’s important to you about being you
  • Say no if that’s what you’ve decided, explain the reasons and how saying yes is making you feel. You can always find a great way of saying it!
  • Move on

If the person is unhappy, then maybe you need to move on from them???? – Just saying -and I know it depends who they are. – I’m an expert in mending relationships if you still want to keep them.

You could also take some responsibility for having said yes in the past – maybe the person is confused?

How about saying something like this – “I’ve always wanted to have a great relationship with you and I haven’t always been totally honest with myself and have said yes when instinctively I have wanted to say no. I’ve realised now what I’m doing and I apologise for any confusion I’m causing. I hope you understand and that we can still have a good relationship”

Is your base solid or wobbly?

Your Base- it is Solid or Wobbly?

Base

A great base

I recently want on a course about business growth and it was in this amazing building which has been mentioned in the doomsday book. It burned down and was rebuilt in the 1860s and is now an amazingly beautiful and grand building. And  I’d like to use this building as an example of something that has stood the test of time and although partially destroyed, has been rebuilt in the same style and is breathtakingly grand. I think of it as an analogy for us and our growth. When we were born, we got our base from our parents, our teachers and things that happened around us which gave us our core values. We then look towards role models and then towards our peers as we grow and develop our own style. However the core values are still there and even though things happen to us and we get burned or knocked down, the original structure is still there. This is our base which consists of our core values and our beliefs which have supported us throughout life. If we forget these and grow without remembering our solid base, we are more likely to fall down or destroy ourselves. We also need a growth plan – how we add to the base structure to keep growing and I have talked a lot in my blogs about the way that we want to be when we have grown- the outcomes that we want. Watch the video and have a think about what sort of base you have – is it useful or not?

If you are thinking that your core structure has been a bit wobbly and may need a bit of repairing in order for you to grow as you want and reach your full potential, let me know and book an appointment to talk to me by clicking here.

Have a look around my web site and check out my courses and my 1:1 coaching which will solidify and enhance the solidity of the structure you need to grow and become excellent in all areas of your life.

Until next week, keep on building and growing

How are you Contributing to your Equality?

Equality is the State of being Equal

Equality

Are You Equal?

Being Equal,  especially in status, rights or opportunities is a very topical subject and International Woman’s day is happening this week.

However, I want to take a different look at equality, especially as a lot of my clients struggle with confidence, self worth and projecting success. They do not feel equal and I wanted to highlight this important aspect of equality.

Watch the video and then ask yourself the questions underneath

  • How are you showing up in terms of  equality when you compare yourself to others?
  • Are you hiding your views or what you feel?
  • Is there anything that is stopping you from showing up as an equal? Either now in your surroundings or from the past?
  • Do you feel equal?
  • Is equality something that you don’t want to consider?

As we progress through childhood, we pick up our values from our parents and our teachers and the people around us. We also develop beliefs which can limit the way that we think about our career or business or life progression. Maybe things happen around us, or to us, and we “wire” the belief that we are not equal to others into our thinking. It then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy where we only notice when we are not equal.

If any of these questions bring up any queries or negative feelings for you, get in touch with me and book an appointment to start a conversation and to progress the way that you can be equal to others.

Because you are equal !!

Have a think, have a look at my web site and the new resources available for mindset for business success and get in touch on 07973 635102 if you want to talk to me.

You can also contact me via the contact page.

Until next week – be equal!

How to do a Vision Board and Why

Dr B’s Board

I’m guessing that most of you have done a vision board at some stage in your life- whether that was a scrap book when you were young or in a workshop or just for fun! and doing one is extremely powerful! The action of doing a vision board means that you have committed to looking at your life in all aspects and also that you want to get motivated and celebrate. I often run sessions with my mastermind group and recently joined in and did one myself – you can see it in the picture above. It has given me focus and daily reminders of what I am doing in my business and also why – very important.

Watch the video below and then find out how to do one.

What you can do a vision board about:

  • Who you are
  • Where you want to travel to

How to make your weaknesses work for you

How to Make your Weaknesses Work for You

Weaknesses

Strengths and Weaknesses

I was quite surprised when I found out what my strengths are and also it enabled me to do some work on what things that work less well for me. Here’s a link to my strengths video and a video on my weaknesses below. They are about self care and organisation.

I’m pretty determined to work with my weaknesses so that they become strengths and help me get my goals.

If I look after myself and become organised, I’m pretty sure that this will help me hugely and I’ve known that for a long time. So I’m on a clean food diet and also have committed to spending 1/2 hour a day tidying the house and office

Let me know your weaknesses and how you are going to turn them around. Let me know if you’d like me to help you in any way by ringing 07973 635102 or contacting me here.

I’m running a Master Mind group in January which would be of help if you are in the S Wales area and will be running an on-line mastermind group soon – watch this space!

Until next week – turn them into strengths!

What are you Never Going To Do? Boundaries

What are your Boundaries – what will you never do?

I was reading an article recently which talked about the things that the author was never going to do. I’d never really thought about that  before and found it really useful to make a list of things that I am never going to do. Since doing that, I’ve made some quite big changes and passed on some opportunities which I didn’t feel good about. These things weren’t about confidence or self esteem as I think I’m pretty OK with those, but just made me clearer on what my boundaries are and will be in the future – very useful!

Watch the video and then ask yourself the questions below and then come up with a list:

Questions

  • What makes you feel bad?
  • What doesn’t feel right?
  • Which people don’t get you
  • Who is always questioning what you do?
  • Who are your mood hoovers?
  • When can’t you be yourself?

Sometimes people struggle with their boundaries and want to please others or are afraid of the consequences of not doing something that they used to do. The 2 questions that I always ask myself in this scenario are:

What if you did?

What if you didn’t?

Create a list of what you are Never Going To Do – whey hey – that’s liberating isn’t it!

And let me know what’s on your list in the comments

Get the answers to the questions down on a  piece of paper and things will seem clearer, If you are still struggling, give me a call on 07973 635102 or fill in the form on the contact page to have a chat with someone who’s been there and will support you through finding the answers.

Until next week

Why Being Specific Helps you Get your Goals

Be Specific and You Will Get Your Goals

Be specific

Be Specific

One of the really great things about taking an  NLP course is that you learn all about what the Unconscious (U/C) Mind does and how it functions. It is the driver of your behaviour and is the domain of your emotions so it’s really great to understand it and work with it.   The U/C mind likes clarity – it takes the path of least effort. If you aren’t clear and specific the U/C mind will not know what to do and this can lead to lack of action and anxiety. If you are interested in finding out more click here to find out about my NLP courses.

An example of this taking the path of least effort, is if you just set a goal to earn more money, your U/C mind will then find you a 10p piece on the pavement rather than what you really wanted but haven’t said. If you have any goal and you haven’t been really clear, then the likelihood of you actually achieving your goal is much lower than if you have been specific. Here’s a link to a video about goal setting.

Watch the video below where I talk about this common challenge.

If you aren’t setting effective goals and find yourself procrastinating or getting anxious,  your unconscious mind and conscious mind are probably not aligned, so get in touch via my web site to book an appointment to talk to me and start changing your life today.

Until next week, practice being specific -it works

How Your Health and Your Results are Affected by the Way you Think

Your Health and Therefore Your Results are Affected by the way That You Think!

Health relates to thinking

Thoughts affect cells

I don’t know if  you’ve been aware of this – its SO important! To have great health which directly affects your results, means that you need to think and feel in a way that enables this. Your reality, which is created by you from the vast amount of information coming into your brain, gives you an emotional state which affects all of your cells in your body. I expect you’ve known people who have felt sad or frightened or guilty by events in their life and they end up by becoming ill. Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Infertility, Depression, and many other “illnesses” – caused by how we think.

All of our cells have all of our memories within them and we switch our genetic information on and off with how we think in general.

Watch the video below and have a think about whether your thinking , feeling and physiology are aligned to create the best results for you or not?

Find out more about this by watching the video explanation of how information becomes thoughts, feelings and affects your physiology and therefore your results. Its known in my circles as my cauliflower video and you can see it here.

I’ve recently worked with quite a lot of people who have results created by their physiology and I’ve even helped someone to get pregnant and have a healthy baby!

We all know that mindset is fundamental to creating and working with illness and getting great results and success, so if you think that you are creating illness or poor results, let me know. Ring me on 07973 635102 or 01656 347027 or fill in a form here to talk to me.

Until next week, create some great thoughts!

A Time Management Technique to Help you Reach Your Business Goals

Time Management Technique

Time Management Technique

Time Management

You know when you seem to spend hours achieving absolutely nothing? I came across this technique recently and it has revolutionised my Time Management. An Italian called Francesca Carrillo started this when he was in University and  it is something to do with cooking tomatoes!

Set a task from our most important actions or to do list. We then protect our time from distractions and start doing this task for 25 minutes. Listen to more detail on the video and give it a go – I’ve found it totally amazing and am much more productive!

So

  • Pick a task that you want to do to move you forwards towards your goals
  • Put your timer on for 25 minutes
  • Do the task without any interruptions. This means telling people this is what you are doing and avoiding any social media or e-mails or ironing
  • When the timer goes off, stop what you are doing.
  • Put a tick on a piece of paper and have a 3-5 minute break
  • Do this 4 times, so that you have 4 ticks, and then have a longer break – 1/2 hour to an hour.

Even if you can only do it once, it is a time management technique that makes a huge difference.

Have fun and be productive and see you next week!

How to stop those last minute panics

Last Minute Panics

Panics

Last Minute Panics

You know the scenario- you’ve had some time to get a task done and have put it off. It’s nearly the deadline and you haven’t really got time to do the task now and you get anxious.  You realise that you could have taken control over  your thoughts and actions at a much earlier stage. Does that sound familiar? And there are other consequences of not getting things done:-

Missing out on getting clients or achieving targets. Feeling rushed and out of control. Doubt creeps in about your abilities. You feel frustrated. You wonder if its all worth it. You don’t enjoy the rest of your life.

Watch the video  below where I give you a couple of quick tips to change this scenario.

  • The first tip is to timetable your task into your diary – Every time you get a task to do, particularly when  you know it’s important and that its the sort of thing you’ve put off in the past, get you diary out and put the task into the diary. If its a big task, chunk it down into individual components and put those into your diary. It’s amazing – you will suddenly realise that there are no longer last minute panics. It’ also another way to make sure that you have the capacity to undertake the task or whether you need to make choices.
  • Tip number two is to notice when you put something off when you know you need to do it there and then. There’s that internal chatter that you could start to notice.  So it will probably go something like this “I need to do this task, I’ve got time to do it later,I don’t really want to do it now- Ive got other things that I want to do.” Then you don’t do the task and at some stage in the future, you regret that decision and start to get those last minute panics.

Did you know that all of your behaviour is driven by strategies in your head? If we notice our internal chatter in our head,  you can change it. So, if you are sitting there, reading this blog and thinking that you could make some changes, book onto my NLP Practitioner course or access a complimentary session to have a chat about any un-useful internal chatter that you have.

Happy and organised thoughts are great! Let’s get some more of them!

Until next week

How to Get More Done in Less Time

Get More Done in Less Time

Get more done

Headless chicken

You know that feeling – when  you have so much to do and you can’t fit in all in?

When you are running around like a headless chicken or maybe feeling like a rabbit in the headlights?

When you just don’t have the resources to change what’s going on?

I undertook  a survey with some of my followers a couple of weeks ago and managing time was a huge challenge for a lot of people.

In this video below I give you a few tips to  think about how to manage your time and get more done in less time. and then have a look at the resources highlighted below the video.

The first thing that would help you would be to set goals that inspire you. Here’s a link to my goal setting video

Once you have these and you have made sure that they are whole life goals and are really compelling, then make sure that everything you are doing  relates to the goals.

Working backwards from your goals

Make sure that you have worked backwards from your goals in order to get the actions that you need to do on a day by day basis.

Let me give you an example. If my goal was to work 3 days a week, I’d need systems in place to be able to manage my workload in those days.

To do this, I’d need a team to help me do this.

To get my team, I’d need to decide what I wanted them to do, I’d need to map out my business plan before that and before that, I’d need to find a business plan format that I want to use – small and precise.

So my 1st action is to find a business plan format that I liked.

You can use this system with any goal. It then stops you from being random, having other ideas and keeps you focused.

Time Management Tool

Here’s another tool that you can use once you know what you have to do. Time Management table

It enables you to monitor every task you do and asks  you whether it is related to your  goals or not and asks whether you are going to keep doing it or not. Have fun and let me know how it goes!

Let me know if you would like more time management tools and, as always, if you’d like to talk to me click here or ring me on 07973635102

See you next week!
