Creating Time for your Future

Creating Time for Your Future

Creating Time

Creating Time

The results were amazing – there was a slight issue that needed to be tackled though and it was a fairly obvious one to me.

So my client was fully focused on increasing his business turn over by 10 fold after getting all of the negatives out of his head with a breakthrough intensive coaching session with me. It was obvious what was happening as he  was very tired as well as very busy (and well on his way to his target). When I started asking him specifics about the progress, it turned out that he had not taken time out to evaluate, plan and congratulate himself on a regular basis. He didn’t really know how much business he had brought in the previous week and how many new clients he had or even worked out a plan for the next week. And he couldn’t look after himself as well as he wanted because he was so busy. And this busyness, and the solution, applies to people wanting to be successful in a career, in a relationship and in life in general. Watch the video below and let me know what happens when you start to do this yourself.

Here’s my suggestion:
Work out when you can take an hour out of being busy in the week, on a regular basis, to get clarity and plan

  • Put it on your diary right now!
  • Get clarity about your goal
  • Decide what you are going to measure
  • Produce a plan for the next week and work out how you will monitor that
  • Think about your progress towards your goal
  • Treat yourself if you have done what you said you were going to do – something meaningful

Let me know how it goes and the insights that you have from doing this

If you are struggling, book a slot with me to talk about it – it may be what you’ve needed all along.

My Facebook closed group, called One Step Closer is also a place where you can discuss these issues with people who may be experiencing similar challenges.

See you next week

How people around you have helped create your story

Story

Generations

Recently I’ve written for Psychologies Magazine about  a theme that’s close to my heart – “Rewriting your Story”. It was in the June 2018 issue in the dossier section if you want to find it. I’ve also been doing some Face Book lives for them which has been welcomed by readers and watchers.

Rewriting your story is about  how your values and beliefs create your story- that chatter that you have in your head that leads to your behaviour and your actions. And then starting to rewrite it, if it is not working for you.

People also have an influence on this and this can be from generations ago. If you think about it, maybe your Gran or Grandad and the story they had, may have an impact on you. Sometimes they are involved directly in bringing you up  or have influenced your parents. I have a lot of clients who’s parents have adopted behaviours and attitudes from their parents – remember the “Children should be seen and not heard”  beliefs from a couple of generations ago. Also, your parents may have had a challenging upbringing which has directly affected the way they brought you up.

Or maybe you have had generations of love and support and then find yourself in a relationship where people put less value on family and support?

Of course, other people around you today contribute to you story- your peers, colleagues, friends, clients.

Watch the video below and then ask yourself the questions below it:

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Are you happy with your “story”?
  • Who has influenced who you are today?
  • Are you happy with that story?
  • If not, can you move on?

Get in touch with me here or give me a ring on 07973 635102 if not.

You can also book an appointment here.

If you have a story that doesn’t help you, there are plenty of ways that I can help and that will start with a  session to talk about what is going on for you and how I can help.

Until next week, happy re-writing!

Are you a Leader? Would you like to be one?

Do you think of yourself as a leader?

Leader

Are you a Leader

I was recently asked to sponsor “The Inspiring Leadership” award at a local networking event (Zokit)and found myself thinking about what an  inspiring leader is. All of the people who applied were great leaders in my mind and I soon started to think about what they all had in common. I narrowed it down to 3 things.

Watch the video and then see if you agree.

Then ask yourself whether

You are a leader?

Whether you want to be one?

Do you need any help?

So the 3 things that these people had in common were:

  1. They were passionate about their Values – whether that was freedom of thought or being a great mum or allowing their staff to be leaders themselves. There was one lady who was leading a movement to get news seen in a different way.
  2. They had worked on their limitations on their journey to get to where they were and were therefore calm and consistent  despite all obstacles
  3. They were a Role Model – whether that was for their staff or clients or their children and family- they were respected and people were inspired by them

In fact the person that I chose was nominated by  their staff and had no idea that they had been nominated until I spoke to them.

If you’d like to be a leader, then leading starts with yourself. If you want to be Passionate, Calm and seen as a Role Model, then it starts with your mindset.

If you feel as though you have some work to do then please get in touch as people that work with me very quickly develop that mindset.

Coming on a Certified NLP Practitioner course will change your life and that of others and you will be an inspiration to others. Get in touch and look at the testimonials here

Also doing some 1:1 coaching with me so that you have a completely clear head and can achieve whatever you want to achieve is life-changing.

I’m here, to support you to become the person that you want to be and I look forward to your comments on whether you are a leader for yourself or others and how I can help.

Until next week – take care

Is your base solid or wobbly?

Your Base- it is Solid or Wobbly?

Base

A great base

I recently want on a course about business growth and it was in this amazing building which has been mentioned in the doomsday book. It burned down and was rebuilt in the 1860s and is now an amazingly beautiful and grand building. And  I’d like to use this building as an example of something that has stood the test of time and although partially destroyed, has been rebuilt in the same style and is breathtakingly grand. I think of it as an analogy for us and our growth. When we were born, we got our base from our parents, our teachers and things that happened around us which gave us our core values. We then look towards role models and then towards our peers as we grow and develop our own style. However the core values are still there and even though things happen to us and we get burned or knocked down, the original structure is still there. This is our base which consists of our core values and our beliefs which have supported us throughout life. If we forget these and grow without remembering our solid base, we are more likely to fall down or destroy ourselves. We also need a growth plan – how we add to the base structure to keep growing and I have talked a lot in my blogs about the way that we want to be when we have grown- the outcomes that we want. Watch the video and have a think about what sort of base you have – is it useful or not?

If you are thinking that your core structure has been a bit wobbly and may need a bit of repairing in order for you to grow as you want and reach your full potential, let me know and book an appointment to talk to me by clicking here.

Have a look around my web site and check out my courses and my 1:1 coaching which will solidify and enhance the solidity of the structure you need to grow and become excellent in all areas of your life.

Until next week, keep on building and growing

How to Change Rubbish Habits

How to Change our Rubbish Habits

IHabits know that I have many habits that affect my health, wealth and happiness and, until I discovered NLP and my unconscious mind, I didn’t know how to change them. I also see a lot of clients who have habits that are not useful and I help them to change what they do. Examples of habits that are not useful- well at least in my  mind- are smoking, drinking alcohol to excess, eating in an uncontrolled way, avoiding things that keep us organised and so on and so on..  In fact, any behaviour that you wish you didn’t do on a regular basis.

All of our behaviour is driven by our unconscious  mind , so in order to change a behaviour or habit, we need to unpick what is happening at that level, and find the trigger for it. Watch the video below and then read about the question that enables us to unpick the habit and therefore start to change it.

For every habit, there is a trigger that starts the process/behaviour that we either want or don’t want. We can find out this trigger by asking the question

“How do you know it’s time to …….(the behaviour/habit)…..?

Is it something that you see, something that you hear, or something that you say to yourself?”

So an example that I do:

I walk from my log cabin to my house and I look at the clock, I see its  6 o’clock, I say to myself “it would be great to have a glass of wine” and I open the fridge and pour myself a glass of wine.

So the trigger is looking at the clock. The behaviour that follows once I’ve seen it’s at least 6 o’clock  is to walk to the fridge and open the fridge and pour a glass of wine.

I could decide to look at the clock and see it’s 6 o’clock and then pour a glass of water and go for a walk instead.

What would work for you?

So think about one habit that you would like to change, find the trigger and then change what happens after the trigger. If you want some help with this or you think that the behaviour is too ingrained, get in touch with me to get help.

You could also learn how to change other people’s behaviours by coming to an NLP Practitioner course. Click here for more details and testimonials.

In the meantime, please comment on what you want to change below and how you are getting on with unpicking the habit

Until next week-  Be healthy, wealthy and happy!

What makes a great team?

What makes a great team?

Team

Team work

As you go about your life on a day to day basis and you look around, you will realise that you have more than one team around you. These  may be in your business, in your career, in your social life or  your leisure activities. Sometimes these will work well for you and sometimes they won’t. And often, it’s a gut feeling that tells you whether it does or not.

The definition of a team is “at least 2 or more members who get together with a common purpose to reach a goal and solve problems”.

Perhaps ask yourself – how do you know what makes a good team for you?

Sometimes its about having complimentary skills – for instance, I’m not a detail person so I have those to help me, which is helpful. In other instances it’s about making sure that the team feels right for you.

It also links with my ABCD tool which makes sure that you have positive committed support around you.

Watch the video below and have a reflect about whether you need to change your team or celebrate the fact that  you are pulling in the same direction.

Sometimes we have people around us who don’t have that same purpose and just feels wrong. We often ignore our gut instinct and carry on regardless, often with disastrous results. So have a think, watch my ABCD video and either relax because you have the right people, or change the people around you. Remember that you are the sum of the 5 people around you.

If you’d like to talk about your team to someone who is independent and interested in you doing the best you can in your business or life, contact me for a free consultation.

See you next week!

How to make your weaknesses work for you

How to Make your Weaknesses Work for You

Weaknesses

Strengths and Weaknesses

I was quite surprised when I found out what my strengths are and also it enabled me to do some work on what things that work less well for me. Here’s a link to my strengths video and a video on my weaknesses below. They are about self care and organisation.

I’m pretty determined to work with my weaknesses so that they become strengths and help me get my goals.

If I look after myself and become organised, I’m pretty sure that this will help me hugely and I’ve known that for a long time. So I’m on a clean food diet and also have committed to spending 1/2 hour a day tidying the house and office

Let me know your weaknesses and how you are going to turn them around. Let me know if you’d like me to help you in any way by ringing 07973 635102 or contacting me here.

I’m running a Master Mind group in January which would be of help if you are in the S Wales area and will be running an on-line mastermind group soon – watch this space!

Until next week – turn them into strengths!

How to say NO to people and why

How to say No to people and why

Just say No

Say No

This is an important topic because if you do say no, you will get:

  • Head space for what really want to do and will be completely in charge of your life

• Real fulfilment and enjoyment of your life with none of these ups and down moments

And if you don’t say no. you will become overwhelmed, have low mood and be kicking yourself when  you wake up in the night with everything going round and round in your head and lose any time you have to look after yourself.

What can you say No to? Watch the video below and have a think about what you can take action on.

Say No to

  • Other peoples baggage – moaning, negativity, reasons and excuses
  • Things that make you angry
  • Work that you hate
  • Business processes or relationships that you hate
  • Toxic relationships – here’s a link to a video about my ABCD tool. Mood hoovers are the Ds – They have a different model of the world and that is fine but if its having a negative affect on your health or your emotions, get rid of them or neutralise them- Just say NO
  • Hanging onto the past – Things have happened and you have put things into your head. The past is gone, the present is the present and the future hasn’t happened yet so let go and notice the things that are around you and be present.

Is there anything that I have forgotten? Let me know and also let me know what you plan to do to start saying NO. If you need any help, just go here and book a free session with me to start that journey.

See you next week with another prescription for success.

How Your Health and Your Results are Affected by the Way you Think

Your Health and Therefore Your Results are Affected by the way That You Think!

Health relates to thinking

Thoughts affect cells

I don’t know if  you’ve been aware of this – its SO important! To have great health which directly affects your results, means that you need to think and feel in a way that enables this. Your reality, which is created by you from the vast amount of information coming into your brain, gives you an emotional state which affects all of your cells in your body. I expect you’ve known people who have felt sad or frightened or guilty by events in their life and they end up by becoming ill. Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Infertility, Depression, and many other “illnesses” – caused by how we think.

All of our cells have all of our memories within them and we switch our genetic information on and off with how we think in general.

Watch the video below and have a think about whether your thinking , feeling and physiology are aligned to create the best results for you or not?

Find out more about this by watching the video explanation of how information becomes thoughts, feelings and affects your physiology and therefore your results. Its known in my circles as my cauliflower video and you can see it here.

I’ve recently worked with quite a lot of people who have results created by their physiology and I’ve even helped someone to get pregnant and have a healthy baby!

We all know that mindset is fundamental to creating and working with illness and getting great results and success, so if you think that you are creating illness or poor results, let me know. Ring me on 07973 635102 or 01656 347027 or fill in a form here to talk to me.

Until next week, create some great thoughts!

How to stop those last minute panics

Last Minute Panics

Panics

Last Minute Panics

You know the scenario- you’ve had some time to get a task done and have put it off. It’s nearly the deadline and you haven’t really got time to do the task now and you get anxious.  You realise that you could have taken control over  your thoughts and actions at a much earlier stage. Does that sound familiar? And there are other consequences of not getting things done:-

Missing out on getting clients or achieving targets. Feeling rushed and out of control. Doubt creeps in about your abilities. You feel frustrated. You wonder if its all worth it. You don’t enjoy the rest of your life.

Watch the video  below where I give you a couple of quick tips to change this scenario.

  • The first tip is to timetable your task into your diary – Every time you get a task to do, particularly when  you know it’s important and that its the sort of thing you’ve put off in the past, get you diary out and put the task into the diary. If its a big task, chunk it down into individual components and put those into your diary. It’s amazing – you will suddenly realise that there are no longer last minute panics. It’ also another way to make sure that you have the capacity to undertake the task or whether you need to make choices.
  • Tip number two is to notice when you put something off when you know you need to do it there and then. There’s that internal chatter that you could start to notice.  So it will probably go something like this “I need to do this task, I’ve got time to do it later,I don’t really want to do it now- Ive got other things that I want to do.” Then you don’t do the task and at some stage in the future, you regret that decision and start to get those last minute panics.

Did you know that all of your behaviour is driven by strategies in your head? If we notice our internal chatter in our head,  you can change it. So, if you are sitting there, reading this blog and thinking that you could make some changes, book onto my NLP Practitioner course or access a complimentary session to have a chat about any un-useful internal chatter that you have.

Happy and organised thoughts are great! Let’s get some more of them!

Until next week

Do You Have a Fixed or a Growth Mindset?

Do you have a Fixed Mindset or a Growth Mindset?

Growth MIndset

Fixed or Growth Mindset?

I’ve been reading Carole Dweck’s book called “Mindset – the new psychology of success” recently and it has prompted me to look at my own mindset and develop a simple tool to decide which I have – A Fixed or a Growth Mindset – and  I would love to share it with you.

The trigger for this – I was in Sri Lanka a month or so ago and was feeling envious of some back packers that were passing by when our guide said to me “You are too old to go back packing! “ I felt defensive about it at the time and before I knew where I was, I had gathered my friends and colleagues to prove him wrong – At the time I thought this was a growth mindset, but when I sat and thought about it, it was more of a fixed mindset- an instinctive “he’s wrong and I’m right” reaction.

I realise what I need to do now is to reflect, ask advice, read books about older people going back packing and decide what I want to do. I’m still looking for people to join me though!!!!!!

Watch the video below, and look at the tool that I’ve developed as a result of thinking about it, you too can reflect and decide where you are and whether you are happy with your mindset, whether it is a fixed or a growth mindset or somewhere in between! Fixed or Growth Mindset

Here is the tool that I have developed –Fixed or Growth Mindset

Put a mark in between the two statements  and be honest. Some of mine were closer to the left hand side – the fixed mindset- (WHAT?????) and I have some homework to do going forward. I’ll pop my thoughts in my journal and share with you as well.

Sharing some of your reflections will help others in the spirit of that Growth Mindset!

Until next week, Happy Reflecting!

Dr Bridget

P.S. I’m developing some resources to share with people who would like to join my on-line community and I want to be sure I’m heading in the right direction and that the content I create is useful to YOU.

The 3 Things That Can Cause you to Lose your Resilience

Resilience – Never Give Up

How to become Resilient

Are you Resilient?

Resilience is the ability to bounce back from the overwhelming influence of risk factors and obstacles.

Watch the video below to find out the 3 categories of risk factors and obstacles that may cause you to lose your resilience, and get in touch with me if you want to overcome the factors that you feel you are not in control of.

And of course there is a whole chapter about resilience in my book Mindset for Business Success (a useful workbook for anyone in who wants to reach their full potential). The majority of my videos also give you tips to become resilient.

The 3 groups of things that cause us to lose our resilience are:

  • Material things
  • Events and Circumstances
  • Self Induced

Listening to the video will raise your awareness about how our interpretation of the Material obstacles can actually fall into the Self Induced category. They can come from limiting beliefs such as “I can’t be successful in case it affects my health”. “I can’t do x , y or z because I don’t have any money” or “my family wouldn’t approve”.

The ability to deal with Events and Circumstances that happen around us is key.

Recently in the UK we have had Brexit which has made some people quite ill.

They feel as though they have lost control over their future. However, if you are resilient, have self belief, confidence and take action towards what you really want, you will definitely be in control of your future.

I’m wondering if you would be interested in reading my book? it is available here as a free download from my web site or you can buy it on Amazon in hard copy or on kindle. Its a work book with a whole chapter on Resilience and gives you prescriptions for success.

Finally – maybe you have lost your resilience? If this is the case, contact me for a free consultation to start the journey of change. I am on on 01656  347027 or 07973 635102.

Till next week, enjoy the “becoming resilient” journey!
