Time Line Therapy® Practitioner Training
Time Line Therapy® is a collection of techniques that allow you to rid yourself of emotional baggage, limiting beliefs and to take control of your life. It can also help you to create your future.
It is invaluable for coaches to enable change at a deep and unconscious level in their clients. Sometimes coaches can help clients to make changes at a conscious levels and then find it difficult to know how to help them further.
It is certainly the reason that I continue to coach clients – to me “It is the Difference that Makes the Difference”

What is Time Line Therapy® ?
Mankind has been aware of the passage of time since Aristotle. He was the first to mention the “stream of time” in his book Physics IV. William James spoke of linear memory storage in 1890. Finally, the concept, nearly forgotten, was revived in the late 1970’s with the advent of Neuro Linguistic Programming. The Time Line Therapy® techniques in use today are a consequence of that.
In 1985, Tad James, M.S., Ph.D. applied a therapeutic process to this concept of an internal memory storage system. The result was a collection of techniques which produces long-lasting transformation very quickly. These powerful Time Line Therapy® techniques are often the method of choice to make fast, effective, long-term changes in behaviour. The time taken to achieve this change is very short in comparison to counselling and other forms of therapy such as CBT.
Your “Time Line” is how you unconsciously store your memories or how you unconsciously know the difference between a memory from the past and a projection of the future. Behavioural change in an individual takes place at an unconscious level. People don’t change consciously although many of us spend a lot of time and money trying to do just that. This process allows you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change “inappropriate” programming in minutes rather than days, months or years.

Time Line Therapy® can free you from your past and allow you to create your future
Time Line Therapy® is a collection of techniques that allow you to gain emotional control over your life. Inappropriate emotional reactions, such as bursts of anger, periods of apathy, depression, sadness, anxiety, and chronic fear, are responsible for preventing people from achieving the quality of life they desire. Limiting decisions, such as “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll never be rich,” or “I don’t deserve a great marriage,” create limitations in your life and stop you from getting reachable and attainable goals and outcomes. These techniques, which we all have, enable you to eliminate many emotions from your past, thus allowing you to move forward toward your goals and desires.
Time Line Therapy® is a process that assists us:
- To let go of Negative Emotions from the past
- To let go of Limiting Decisions(Beliefs) from the past
- Create our future the way we want it.
- Help clients create their future
These techniques remove undesired negative emotions; such as anger, sadness, fear and anxiety, hurt and guilt by releasing these emotions from the memories that harvest them. You are then free to create your future without any hindrance from the past.
Limiting decisions and beliefs prevent you from achieving your potential. These decisions and beliefs have come about as a result of past experiences but may have stayed with you until now and have limited your life when you think about it. Time Line Therapy® techniques allow you to remove these decisions and beliefs from the past by learning from the experiences and changing how we think about them.
Creating Your Future
Finally, having resolved the unresolved issues in the past, Time Line Therapy® gives us a compelling way of creating our future dreams and goals in a simple process which enables your mind to concentrate on them and therefore achieve them.
How does it work and how can you learn about it?
As I have already said, this process works at the unconscious level and is based on the principal that once you have learned from any event then you can release the emotions on the event. If you think about when you have had a bad day, the way that you can let go of the emotions is to learn from the experience and Time Line Therapy® is the same process at the unconscious level.
The great thing about Time Line Therapy® is that it aims to deal with the very first event in the gestalt (the gestalt is like a string of pearls – every pearl representing a time you experienced a particular emotion). By learning from this very first event the string of pearls or gestalt falls apart and you can release stored up negative emotions and limiting decisions. This is all done at the unconscious level since you are unlikely to know the first event consciously. This is very helpful when you are dealing with traumatic memories from the past as the 1st event will be well before this event.
The biggest plus of this process is that it is content free. So you do not have to spend hours with a counsellor talking about uncomfortable events in your past.
If you have attended one of Dr Bridget’s NLP practitioner courses, you will have had an experience of Time Line Therapy® and you will now be taught how to undertake it in this course with a client. This will take two days of a longer course and you will have a certificate saying that you have received the training from Dr Bridget. This will enable you to join the Time Line Therapy® Association who will certify you as a Practitioner of Time Line Therapy® Time Line Therapy on production of our certificate.
